To record outcomes of criminal court appearances. DESCRIPTION Queensland Wide Inter-linked Courts (QWIC) records details of court appearances (e.g. dates, court location of appearance) for criminal matters as well as outcomes of court appearances (e.g. sentences). In terms of domestic violence criminal offences, only breaches of DV orders are able to be identified. Other domestic violence related offences (e.g. assaults) are not able to be identified as to whether or not they relate to domestic violence. QWIC also records information relating to applications for DV orders (e.g. date of court appearance, result of court appearance, orders made, etc.). There is no link in the system between criminal matters and applications for DV orders. There is also no ‘single person identifier’ in QWIC, therefore history of offending is not available. DEFINITION OF FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Family and domestic violence is defined by the Domestic and Family violence Protection Act 1989. The Act covers physical, emotional and financial violence and abuse committed in spousal, intimate personal, family and informal care relationships. Aspects of family and domestic violence captured in the data are:
